**OVERVIEW**

Summarise the basic purpose of the role and its primary objectives.
- The Maintenance Supervisor - Fitter is responsible for the maintenance to all conveying, milling, mixing and packaging equipment used in the processing operation. The position requires a high standard of efficiency while maintaining quality control and a safe work environment. The position may require out of hours work in performing repairs to ensure production targets are met.

**DUTIES**

List the principal tasks that a person employed in the role would be expected to perform or be expected to be capable of undertaking as normal duties.
- Must have understanding of feed milling process including - batching, mixing and pellet press operations.
- Planning regular maintenance of all operating equipment.
- Planning shutdowns for repairs to critical equipment.
- Provide leadership to T&R maintenance team to achieve optimum performance, flexibility and accountability.
- Responsibility for strategic planning of upgrades and process improvements related to equipment and buildings.
- Develop and implement planning process with production and operational staff.
- Ensure productivity is not lost through poor maintenance outcomes.
- Ensure all consumables and critical parts are on hand and available for any breakdowns.
- Integral part of Project managing capital works or major upgrades and repairs.
- Ensuring plant & equipment is safe for purpose and operators.
- Effective operation of the mill to ensure high levels of productivity and meet daily production targets.
- Change die and rollers as required to meet the production schedule.
- Perform routine maintenance (grease rollers etc.) as required.
- Troubleshoot and rectify mechanical issues to ensure production targets are met.
- Advise the Operations Manager of known or suspected maintenance issues that might affect ongoing production.
- Maintain plant housekeeping and hygiene for the grinding and pelleting areas.

**RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE**:
Indicate the frequency and nature of decisions made and initiative and judgement required. Take into account how much detailed guidance and/or supervision is given.
- Frequent problem solving and determination of priorities which will require a high degree of common sense, discipline and experience.
- Communication and consultation with Production Manager on more serious issues.

**HOURS OF WORK**

Summarise total hours of work expected to be performed per week by the person in the role and the daily time period within which hours of work are to be performed.
- A senior position with a minimum of 38 ordinary hours per week.
- This is a role for coverage of 24 hour operation using a rotation shift roster.
- Currently operating as 3 x 8 hour shifts 5 days per week.
- Additional hours and weekend work as may be required from time to time to achieve effectiveness in the role.

**MANAGING PEOPLE**

Indicate the degree of supervision applied to others to control, train, motivate and allocate work, taking into account the numbers supervised.
- The role is seen as an essential position especially during shifts where there is limited availability of senior management
- The role has a general hand reporting to them
- The general hand must be managed to ensure that the quality and efficiency targets are maintained

**COMMUNICATION**

Indicate the extent to which contract and/or verbal or written communications are important within the job.
- A strong level of communication is required to ensure that issues affecting the mill’s performance are shared and brought to the attention of management.
- A shift hand over is conducted to provide adequate information is transferred to the incoming crew so that the mill’s performance can be maintained.
- Recording of daily production is critical to maintain planning and inventory control.
