**Principal Hydrogeologist**

**Work location: Perth, WA**

**Roster**: Monday to Friday

Support and complete technical works including conceptual design and technical assurance for projects involving groundwater water resource assessments, hydrogeological investigations, groundwater monitoring programmes, water systems management and water resource planning.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Conduct desktop hydrogeological assessments and conceptual designs to source and assess reliability of water quantity and quality to support entire project life cycle
- Collection and analysis of groundwater data (such as water quantity and quality information) to inform studies and additional site investigations
- Providing advice and information to study and project teams on hydrogeology and water resource considerations for design, construction, and maintenance, of engineered structures including water source investigations, hydrogeological groundwater modelling, water quality assessments and other related water management studies
- Planning and managing site investigations for the collection of hydrogeological and geophysical data
- Provide analysis of options for, and participate in the design of, water supply systems, groundwater abstraction borefields and wastewater disposal systems
- Managing and liaising with a range of project stakeholders including project engineers, vendors, consultants, and contractors
- Assist in preparation of construction plans, specifications and cost estimates including material quantity calculations
- Provide support to a diverse team of professionals across multiple parts of the project value chain
- Prepare documents summarizing work performed (report compilation and presentation)
- Preparing scopes of works for hydrogeological assessments, groundwater modelling studies and fieldwork programmes
- Risk assessment of water management, environmental impacts and related natural hazards

**Qualifications and skills required**:

- MSc or postgraduate diploma in Hydrogeology
- Currently holds RPGeo (Hydrogeology) or equivalent professional certification
- Geology or Environmental Engineering background
- Prior experience in a similar role preferably in the renewable energy sector, water supply or complex environments
- Minimum 15-years of experience in hydrogeology and water resource management
- Experience in conducting and supervising hydrogeological assessments and investigations, drilling programmes, testing, sampling and monitoring programmes, groundwater modelling, and/or groundwater risk assessments is essential
- Experience with water system planning and infrastructure design and management
- Detailed knowledge of a range of water resource management tools and processes
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of exploratory water investigation permitting, water use permitting processes and approvals is essential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated project management skills, organisational and coordination abilities
- A strong capability in adapting to multidisciplinary environments, in particular communicating a range of Hydrogeology and Water Resource Management concepts to a wide range of experts
- Strong data management and manipulation skills, with excellent computer literacy skills
- Demonstrated experience in writing technical reports to a high standard
- Strong team skills and willingness to travel for short periods
- International hydrogeology and water management experience is highly desirable
- Experience in groundwater chemistry, water quality management and water quality processing is highly desirable
