**The Opportunity**
The Transport Analytics directorate enables efficient and effective decision making by creating and embedding products that transform how data is managed and used. We lead department analytics capability and partner with customers to deliver analytics solutions and insights.

The GIS Analyst is accountable to the senior GIS Analyst and is responsible for maintaining, gathering and analysing spatial data to support business process and decisions across the department.
- Experience in maintaining, gathering, organising, interpreting and cleansing spatial data
- Ability to accurately maintain several internal and external spatial databases
- Technical abilities in spatial analysis and web mapping
- Ability to work within project teams delivering spatial products

**Qualifications/Experience**
Tertiary qualifications in GIS / Analytics / IT or comparative equivalent experience highly desirable.

Technical capabilities
- Knowledge of spatial data analysis principles and concepts.
- Practical experience utilising data models in a GIS environment.
- Recent relevant experience utilising GIS tools such as ArcGIS desktop and online products.
- Experience working with tabular data in tools such as excel.

**Special Conditions**
A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.

Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

**Tenure of Vacancy**
Temporary appointment up to 12 months.

**Remuneration**
ASO5 - $85,790 to $95,413 pa + superannuation.
