**Role**:
**ROLE DESCRIPTION**:

- Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who continue to spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
- Learning Specialists are expected to have deep knowledge and expertise in high quality teaching and learning in delivering improved achievement, engagement and wellbeing for students, including the AVID instructional practice model, HITs, the UDL framework and the Amy Berry Engagement Continuum.
- The role of the Learning Specialist is to model excellence in teaching and learning through demonstration lessons, mentoring and instructional coaching, and providing focused feedback for improvement to the skills, knowledge and effectiveness of the teaching workforce.
- Learning Specialists have a range of responsibilities related to their expertise, including facilitating school-based and faculty and program specific professional learning.
- Lead the design and implementation of a guaranteed and viable Victorian Curriculum 2.0, ensuring it meets educational standards and the diverse needs of students so that it builds the capacity of staff in their learning area to develop curriculum and use the school¿s agreed templates policies and processes.
- Ensure that all curriculum materials are aligned with the school¿s standardised templates and processes, fostering consistency and excellence in teaching practices across the learning area and ensuring regular review of curriculum plans.
- To work with the leadership team to interpret school data, and to develop the capacity of staff to use this data, to improve student outcomes.
- Contribute positively to the Leadership, Curriculum and PLC teams.
- Actively contribute to the school¿s programs.
- Mentor and support the induction of new staff within the faculty.
- Model exemplary ethical behaviour aligned with the DET and School values and exercise informed judgements in all professional dealings with students, colleagues and the community.

**Responsibilities**:
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
In recognition of the importance of exemplary teaching practice for improved student learning outcomes, the key roles of the Learning Specialists may include but are not limited to:

- Demonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice and pedagogy including the AVID/HITS, the UDL framework and the Amy Berry Model Continuum of Student Engagement and support the consist embedding of these pedagogical practices across the school.
- Demonstrate high-level expertise in pedagogical practices.
- Demonstrate high-level of understanding of the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 specifically their learning area, the general capabilities and the foundation skills.
- Demonstrate high-level expertise in developing curriculum plans, ensuring they meet the educational standards and the diverse needs of students while building the capacity of staff in their learning area to school¿s agreed templates policies and processes.
- Inspire students and staff with a passion for learning, demonstrate and foster the development of student and teacher agency.
- Teach within the year 7 -10 program.
- Liaise with the Assistant Principal: Teaching and Learning, Literacy Leading Teacher, Numeracy Leading Teacher, AVID Leading Teacher, Faculty Coordinator and Program Leaders regarding teaching & learning approaches, initiatives and programs.
