We are currently seeking a** Rail Safety and Accreditation Manager** to join our Melbourne team
**About the Role**:
We are seeking a Rail Safety, Assurance & Accreditation Manager to establish and guide a team responsible for ensuring full compliance with national rail safety legislation and supporting the successful accreditation of a new rail operation. Your day to day may include:
- Overseeing the development of an accreditation strategy to support safe and controlled railway operations.
- Developing and maintaining the Operations and Maintenance Hazard Log and Risk Register, ensuring risks are mitigated to acceptable levels.
- Leading the development of the Safety Management System (SMS) to support all stages of the accreditation process.
- Securing and maintaining rail safety accreditation as a Rail Infrastructure Manager (RIM) and Rolling Stock Operator (RSO).
- Ensuring audits of systems and safe rail working practices are conducted during construction, operations, and maintenance.
- Providing training and leadership in rail safety and accreditation across project teams.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, and organisational requirements.
- Managing rail safety requirements and relationships with regulators and partners throughout delivery and operations.
- Implementing continuous monitoring and improvement plans in line with the Rail Safety National Law (RSNL).
- Driving improvements in the Integrated Management System (IMS) and Safety Management System (SMS) to reduce rail-related risks.
- Ensuring all rail safety risks are managed so far as is reasonably practicable (SFAIRP).
**About You**:
- Tertiary qualifications in either transport operations, related engineering disciplines, or management
- Proven experience (10 to 15 years) in Australian safety and accreditation railway projects
- Sound knowledge of Rail Safety National Law, Health & Safety Act 2004. Environmental Legislative requirements and any other legislation applicable in Victoria
- Certification or training in safety, risk management, investigations, environmental management
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
