We are looking for a passionate and hardworking **Principal Development Planner **to join our team at Singleton Council. In this role, you’ll be provided with real opportunity to directly affect the future of development in Singleton through case management of significant developments as well as developing systems to build confidence in housing development.

**THE ROLE**
Reporting directly to the Manager Development and Environmental Services, with no direct reports, you will be able to focus on developing council’s pre-DA process through coordination of an increasing number of Pre-DA Meetings and ensuring the best available advice to potential applicants ahead of lodgement.
You will also use your extensive skills in customer experience to engage with key development stakeholders to develop relationships, identify opportunities for improvement and support high economic and public benefit projects through the development assessment process.
**ESSENTIAL CRITERIA**
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications (minimum bachelor degree) in a planning or related field.
- Experience in managing complex issues and developing practical solutions by balancing competing objectives.
- Experience in legal case management for court proceedings and appearing in the Land and Environment Court as an expert witness.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of planning and development legislation, _Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 _and the _Local Government Act 1993._
- Demonstrated time management skills with ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines within an environment of changing and competing demands.
- Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate with a range of internal and external stakeholders around complex technical matters.
- Solid experience in the use of Microsoft Office, electronic document management systems and GIS.
- A commitment to providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers of Council

This position is offered on a Term Contract, full time basis for a period of 3 years, working 35 hours per week.
Remuneration for this position is based on 15 of the salary system which equates to a base salary between $106,437 and $119,726 per annum plus $16,309 vehicle allowance and 10% superannuation.
