Your Role

To underwrite Business Package policies which contribute to the achievement of the SME and company goals which include profitability, growth. Success in this role will be reliant on the ability to consistently provide excellent customer service within standards whilst ensuring compliance.

**Your Responsibilities**:
Financial

Deliver profitable growth through achievement of GWP through production, profitability and expenses including retention, conversion rate, and loss ratio.

Underwriting

Underwrite referrals within delegated underwriting authority in accordance with the guidelines for new business, renewals and endorsements. Make recommendations for acceptance or declination of risks which exceed authority.

Responsible for underwriting results of assigned portfolio.

Maintain awareness of claim activity and liaise with stakeholders

Contribute towards the continual development and improvement of the portfolio including Post Acceptance Reviews.

Business development

Establish relationships with key and new producers identifying opportunities including scheme and portfolio transfers.

Ensure stakeholders are kept up to date with regular communications

Assists in underwriter training and broker relations.

Service

Provide responsive service on underwriting referrals

Take responsibility for quality of responses and referral turnaround times.

Maintain awareness of claim activity and liaise with stakeholders

**Qualifications**:
Your Skills & Experience

Proven experience as an underwriter in general insurance/business packages.

Sound communication skills

Consistently displays initiative and seeks opportunities to innovate

Strong team player

Understands the principles of risk and corresponding underwriting appetite(s).

Knowledge of the products / services of key competitors.

Proven negotiation skills.

Desire and willingness to learn.

Strong customer service focus

**Desirable**:
Exposure to underwriting systems, claims systems, and broking systems will be an advantage
