Head Barista/supervisor

The Head Barista / Assistant Manager is responsible for leading the barista team, maintaining high standards of coffee quality and customer service, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the café. This role combines hands-on barista expertise with leadership, operational management, and team coordination to ensure smooth and efficient café performance.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Coffee Operations & Quality Control**
- Prepare and serve exceptional coffee and beverages to café standards.
- Calibrate espresso machines and grinders daily to ensure consistency.
- Train and mentor baristas to maintain product quality and presentation.
- Develop new beverage recipes and seasonal specials.

**Staff Leadership & Training**
- Supervise daily operations in the absence of the Café Manager.
- Assist with scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Foster a positive and professional team culture.

**Customer Service**
- Deliver outstanding service and build rapport with regular customers.
- Handle customer feedback and resolve issues promptly and professionally.

**Operations & Administration**
- Support with opening and closing duties, cash handling, and POS operations.
- Manage stock levels, place orders, and control wastage.
- Ensure café cleanliness, hygiene, and compliance with food safety standards.

**Business Support**
- Assist the Café Manager in meeting sales targets and operational goals.
- Provide input on marketing, promotions, and menu improvements.
- Step into the Manager’s role when required to ensure smooth operations.

**Skills & Qualifications**:

- Proven experience as a **Head Barista or Senior Barista (3+ years)**.
- Strong coffee knowledge, including espresso extraction and milk texturing.
- Leadership and communication skills with a hands-on approach.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
- Organised, reliable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of café financials and cost management is preferred.

**Job Type**: Permanent

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
