**About the Role**:

- The Aboriginal Advisor, working alongside our Senior Aboriginal Advisor, supports the undertaking of corporate and strategic service development activities acrossForensicare.The position has a key role inassisting the Senior Aboriginal Advisor, in developing and implementing systemic improvements to enhance outcomes and experiences for Aboriginal consumers, communities and workforce. The position plays a supporting role in the development of service models, business cases,project and change management, and reviewing of new and existing models of care, through a cultural lens.

**Duties**:

- Advocate for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people across the business.
- Support the development of Forensicare's Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan.
- Provide strategic advice to the Senior Aboriginal Advisor on First Nations-related legislation, regulation & policy interpretation.
- Build effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and negotiate with tact and diplomacy on difficult issues.
- Support the implementation of actions that deliver improved cultural capacity across the organisation.
- Develop, plan, manage and support/lead assigned projects, keeping culturally safe, person-centred care at the centre of service design and delivery.
- Provide guidance and advice on ensuring our environment is culturally safe.

**About You**:

- You are of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.
- You have knowledge of issues impacting on Aboriginal people and communities.
- Experience in developing effective relationships and networks with Aboriginal people living in Victoria, using knowledge of cultural and communication sensitivities.
- Proven ability to problem solve, analyse and draw sound inferences from information available to propose, develop and implement workable solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

**What you need**:

- Demonstrated ability to prioritise competing tasks and meet competing deadlines.
- Project management experience, including ability to manage change successfully (desirable)
- Knowledge of the issues relevant to providing treatment and care to people with mental illness or intellectual disability (desirable)
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system and the issues surrounding over-representation of Aboriginal people within this system(desirable)
