Business Trainee: Department of Families, Fairness

NextGen Jobs is hiring a Business Trainee to support the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. Do you have an interest in launching your career in the government while earning a **Certificate III in Business?**
This 12 month traineeship based in **Melbourne CBD **provides provides strategic, executive and administrative support to the division’s Deputy Secretary. The Trainee will help to facilitate the efficient and effective flow of work through the division so that decision makers are supported with high quality and timely advice.
**Youth Employment Scheme (YES)**
The YES is a Victorian State Government funded initiative designed to increase the workforce participation of young people, particularly those facing significant barriers to employment. These placements provide trainees with meaningful work experience and formal training to give a solid foundation for a sustainable career. Applicants from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply
**Eligibility Criteria**
- Be aged between 15 and 29 years at the commencement of the traineeship
- Not currently engaged in tertiary education
- Not have attained a university level qualification (excluding 1-4 certificates)

**Key accountabilities**
- Answer queries, provide timely advice and undertake general follow up action as required, including correctly redirecting incoming mail and queries.
- Provide support and assistance to meetings and conferences, including coordinating papers, organising venues, catering, agendas, taking minutes and follow-up actions and making travel and accommodation arrangements.
- Contribute as an effective branch member in a team environment and assist in the provision of quality, timely and effective customer service to managers and staff within the branch.
- Engage, consult, and liaise with staff across the division to communicate the work processes, preferences, and priorities of the Office of the Deputy Secretary.
- Support the Maintaintance of accurate databases, track and report on the work of the division and the Office of the Deputy Secretary. This supports the efficient and effective flow of work through the division, the Office of the Deputy Secretary, and more broadly through the authorising chain.
- Support the team with administration improvements within the Office of the Deputy Secretary and division by supporting administrative projects.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
