**Key Responsibilities**:
As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in improving the lives of individuals and their families by providing both emotional and practical support. Your responsibilities will include:
- Offering emotional support to individuals and their families.
- Assisting with practical needs such as household tasks, personal care, and administrative tasks like paperwork.
- Monitoring and supporting healthcare needs, including medication administration and basic health checks like temperature monitoring.
- Encouraging individuals to engage in hobbies, interests, and community activities.
- Teaching and supporting the development of life skills, such as budgeting, paying bills, and maintaining housing tenancy.
- Helping with daily tasks such as meal preparation, shopping, and organizing routines.
- Assisting individuals in accessing community services and promoting inclusion in social groups.
- Adapting communication to meet the unique needs of each individual, including using sounds, tones, and body language.
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals, such as doctors and therapists, to ensure consistent care and well-being.
- Maintaining accurate and high-quality progress notes and incident reports through the Dreams Alive Care Portal/app.
- Serving as a role model and companion, fostering shared interests and supporting enjoyable activities.
**Essential Qualifications and Requirements**:
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a **Certificate IV or higher in Disability Services**.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of mental health.
- Have a minimum of **2 years' experience**, including manual handling for high-intensity participants.
- Possess the following certifications and checks:
- **NDIS Screening Check**:
- **NDIS Worker Orientation Module Completion**:
- **Working with Children Check**:
- **National Police Check**:
- **Valid First Aid/CPR Certification**:
- Own a **reliable vehicle with full insurance coverage**.
- Be an **ABN holder or subcontractor** with **current business insurance**.
- Exhibit fluent English skills, both verbal and written, to ensure clear communication and documentation.
