CSIRO’s Environment Business Unit brings together CSIRO’s capabilities in marine, atmospheric, water and terrestrial environment disciplines, as well as significant social and economic research, to align and support the nation in creating a better and more sustainable future.

The Program Support Officer (PSO) is part of a newly established team in the Environment Business Unit reporting to the Program Manager - Environment responsible for delivering standardised and high-level bespoke support that enable Program Research Directors and other Program Leadership in the effective planning, directing, and coordination of program operations.

You will provide critical support to the Program Manager - Environment in the development and implementation of systems and processes that facilitate effective program/project monitoring and reporting. You will also provide high-level advice, support, and coaching to Project Leaders to programs to ensure the alignment of their projects to CSIRO, Environment and Program strategic objectives, policies, processes, and standards, at all project stages and facilitate connections to Enterprise Services where appropriate.

Although this is not a traditional project manager role, you will bring your knowledge and experience in project management frameworks to advice Research Project Leaders.

**Your duties will include**:

- Provide critical support to the Program Manager - Environment in the development and implementation of systems and processes that facilitate effective program/project monitoring and reporting, the ongoing collection of information and data, insights to recommend directions and improvements to Business Unit and program operations.
- Provide high-level standardised and agreed bespoke support to Program Research Directors and other Program Leadership to facilitate effective planning, directing, and coordination of program operations (including financial/budget monitoring).
- Analyse relevant data from ERP systems and other sources to provide insights into operations and make recommendations.
- Design and implement targeted Business Unit and Program initiatives that facilitate improved effective and efficient program operations particularly in program and project management.
- Provide high-level advice, support, and coaching to Program Leadership and Project Leaders to ensure the alignment of projects and activities to CSIRO, Environment, and Program strategic objectives, policies, processes, and standards at all project stages.
- Engage broadly across assigned Program(s) to identify emerging and unforeseen issues requiring intervention (including project delivery, stakeholder relationships, internal conflict, and cultural challenges) and support development and implementation of appropriate responses.

**Location**: Melbourne and Hobart (preferred), Canberra, Brisbane, Darwin, Perth, Adelaide (negotiable)

**Salary**: AU$ 89,680K - AU$101,459k per annum (pro-rata for part-time) plus up to 15.4% superannuation

**Tenure**: Specified Term of 3 years

**To be considered you will need**:

- Under CSIRO policy only those who meet all essential criteria can be appointed._
- Relevant certification and/or experience in program and project management principles, frameworks, tools, budgeting, and techniques
- Experience in managing complex project or programs to success
- Knowledge of stakeholder priorities and broader complexities to adapt communication approach to influence others, including those in senior leadership positions, while not holding official authority
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience in identify emerging and unforeseen issues requiring intervention using critical thinking, decision-making, abstract and creative thinking and implement effective solutions
- Experience in using designing and implementing effective and efficient organisational systems and processes to support achievement of organisational priorities
- Experience using Organisational Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems including SAP, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and Microsoft Dynamics
- Strong organisational skills, able to prioritise demands, and escalate issues when
