Canteen is dedicated to supporting young people and their families affected by cancer. Founded by young cancer patients, our mission is to provide essential programs, services, and resources that positively impact the lives of 12-25 year-olds facing their own diagnosis, dealing with a close family member's cancer, or grieving the loss of a loved one. Canteen's success is built on the capability and motivation of its people. We are now seeking a Program Officer - TAS to join our team where you will provide program and event support to young people and families impacted by Cancer. This is a high-impact role for a qualified Allied Health, Youth Work, Human Services, Health Sciences professional with a natural ability to connect and support young people.

- Base Salary + Superannuation + Not-For-Profit Salary Packaging (up to $18,550 of your salary tax-free).
- 5 Weeks Annual Leave (FTE % leave loading + pay during our annual office closure week.

About our role
- Design and deliver a portfolio of fun and engaging in-person and online peer support and recreational events for Canteen's service users.
- Support a caseload of young people to engage effectively in Canteen programs and events.
- Facilitate the youth leadership program in line with Canteen's leadership framework.
- Conduct thorough risk analysis of all activities in line with Canteen's risk management guidelines and operating procedures.
- Plan accurate estimation costs of yearly events, recreation activities and overnight programs with the State Manager.
- Ensure events and activities are actively promoted with all promotional materials and social media activity compliant with Canteen's brand guidelines.
- Attend and promote Canteen at relevant meetings, conferences and networking forums as identified in your state/territory plan.
- Adhere to all child protection policies and procedures including monitoring 'working with children checks' for volunteers and local leadership participants.
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Sport/Recreation Management, Youth Work, Education, Human Services, Health Promotion, Community Development, or related fields.
- Certified in First Aid, Suicide prevention training, Mental Health First Aid, (or willing to rapidly obtain)
- Skilled at group facilitation and experience engaging with young people year-olds)
- Demonstrated skills designing engaging events, recreation programs and programs with psychosocial practice elements (e.g. structured group work time)
- Experience in group facilitation, coordination, and management
- Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail
- Outstanding communication skills and a natural ability to connect.
- Current driver's license, ability to obtain a first aid certificate and the flexibility to travel interstate, work weekends and evenings (with notice) are essential.

Employment Expectations
To ensure an ongoing commitment to the success of Canteen, all applications must be able to:
- Successfully complete and maintain a current National Police Check and Working with Child Check relevant to the individual's state jurisdiction.
- Undergo an extensive screening process prior to appointment to guarantee the safety of all Canteen's stakeholders.
- Provide at least two direct referees to ensure a successful reference check is completed.
- Provide relevant copies of professional qualification/s stated on the application.
