Group Financial Risk is a broad team which deploys the Group’s credit risk frameworks, actively manages and monitors the Group’s credit risk exposures, undertakes credit model development, executes financial risk project management and supports non-retail customers via the Group Credit Structuring Unit.
The Group Financial Risk - Portfolio Management team works closely with Line 1 and Line 2 teams across Retail and Non-Retail Business Units and Subsidiaries, both domestically and offshore, to implement and provide insights on Group-wide credit risk policies, standards, concentration limits and non-retail credit quality. The team also provides expert advice on regulatory compliance matters.
**Do work that matters**
Your role as **Manager Portfolio Management**includes the ongoing review and improvements to credit risk policy, providing expert advice on credit policy and process, and the interpretation of APRA’s Prudential Standard for Large Exposures (APS 221) and it’s cross over with other APRA Prudential Standards relating to Credit Risk, specifically APS 112, APS 113 and APS 220. You will play an integral role to ensure best practice credit risk management policies and processes are developed and implemented across the Group to enable Business Units to achieve their goals and comply with regulatory requirements.
Reporting to a Senior Manager, your role as Manager, Portfolio Management will focus on supporting the Portfolio Management team’s work and key Group Financial Risk non-retail credit risk initiatives. In addition to the above, your role will see you assisting with data extraction and analysis to support non-retail credit exposure reporting and policy reviews. Your analysis will assist in identifying pockets of risk and opportunities in the portfolio resulting in suggested actions for mitigating risk to senior management and the Board.
The role is essential in supporting the Portfolio Management team and Group Chief Credit Officer in responding to internal and external stakeholder requests for information relating to the Group’s credit portfolios.
**Your responsibilities include**:
- Supporting Senior Managers in co-ordination of Group wide credit concentration framework reporting, reviews and information requests across various Business Units and Subsidiaries to identify trends, emerging weaknesses, opportunities and recommended actions.
- Support reviewing, refining and enhancing the team’s data and analytics capabilities to support regular and ad-hoc queries or deep dives in respect to current and emerging risks (e.g. sensitivity analysis), and identifying opportunities for portfolio optimisation.
- Assist Senior Managers in researching, analysing and formulating credit concentration framework limit recommendations and changes to policies that balance sound risk management practices, the Group’s risk appetite, Business Unit and Subsidiary growth aspirations and regulatory requirements for endorsement by senior management and approval by the Board.
- Assist in maintaining Policy, Process and Resources owned by the Portfolio Management team.
- Positively engage, and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the Group to assist in ensuring Business Unit Standards, Processes and strategies are consistent with the Group Credit Concentration Policy requirements.
- Support Senior Managers in providing expert advice to strategic projects impacting the credit portfolio, including projects relating to key credit risk data elements and reporting of insights.

- Demonstrated experience within banking/financial services with a core understanding of the lending lifecycle couple with credit skills.
- Proven track record in extracting and consolidating data from different systems for interrogation, visualisation, and written and verbal presentation of insights to senior management.
- Experience in SQL with at least a base level proficiency in VBA is desirable
- Experience in credit risk origination, decisioning, policy or portfolio management is desirable.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- An ability to work proactively, independently, and with a team to make recommendations supported by sound rationale and balance priorities and stakeholders with at times conflicting views.
- Tertiary qualification in a finance, economics or quantitative discipline.
