We have an exciting opportunity for a Divisional Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Engagement Coordinator to join our National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander team.

About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Divisional Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Engagement Coordinator to join our National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander team. This position will be based in Victoria, providing cultural support and guidance to our Christian Ministry and Social Programs across the state. We recognise the key to our success is an exceptional Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and we are seeking an outstanding individual to join our team in transforming The Salvation Army.
You will successfully
- Be the key contact point and provide cultural insight, support and guidance to the organisation to build their cultural capability and competency at a divisional (state/territory) level
- Providing statewide and national advice and support to TSA mission expressions eg Ministry, Homelessness, AOD etc to successfully implement the National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Cultural Capability & Competency Framework
- Contribute to the broader agenda of cultural capability at the state and national level; project manage and/or collaborate across streams/departments for identified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander initiatives outside of the framework
- Work collaboratively with mission expressions to enhance and strengthen TSA faith pathways for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples
This is a permanent full time position reporting to the General Manager Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Team and is located at our VIC Divisional Headquarters in Mitcham.
You will have
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Demonstrated experience engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and service providers
- Demonstrated understanding of contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people
- Experience in dealing with complex and diverse issues for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities and methods of providing culturally appropriate solutions
- Experience in a Christian ministry position would be advantageous
- Willingness to undergo a national police record check is required
- Current employee working with children/vulnerable people check
- A valid driver’s licence
