**Disability Support Worker / Community Worker**
We are an NDIS support provider with a strong focus on assisting clients from Iraqi and Arabic-speaking backgrounds.
We are seeking compassionate, patient, and dedicated individuals who are passionate about helping others achieve their life goals. This role is ideal for those who can foster independence, promote social inclusion, and enhance the quality of life for individuals living with disabilities.
**About the Role**
As a Disability Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing active support to clients in their homes and within the community. You will assist individuals with disabilities in developing their independence, social skills, and overall well-being while respecting their culture, privacy, and dignity.
**Key Responsibilities**
Your duties may include, but are not limited to:
- **Daily Living Assistance**: Supporting clients with personal care, including hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and medication management.
- **Household Support**: Assisting with housekeeping, sleepovers, and meal preparation.
- **Community Engagement**: Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities to promote inclusion and independence.
- **Skill Development**: Assisting clients in developing life skills such as cooking, budgeting, and mobility.
- **Emotional & Psychological Support**: Providing a listening ear and emotional assistance.
- **Implementing Support Plans**: Following individualized care plans and adapting to changing client needs.
- **Safe Mobility Support**: Assisting with transfers using hoists or other mobility aids.
**Essential Qualifications & Requirements (Must Have)**
The following qualifications and certifications are mandatory for this role:
**Fluency in both English and Arabic** (spoken and written).
**Experience living in an Arabic-speaking country**, ensuring a deep understanding of cultural values and sensitivities.
**Relevant qualification** in disability support, aged care, individual support, mental health, or an health-related field (or currently studying towards one).
**NDIS Worker Screening Check** (current or willing to obtain).
**Current First Aid & CPR Certification**.
**Current National Police Check (for employment purposes)**.
**Working with Children Check (WWCC)** (current or willing to obtain).
**NDIS Training Certificates**, including:
- Quality, Safety and You
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals
- Supporting Effective Communication
- Supporting People to Stay Infection-Free
**Intermediate computer skills** (Microsoft Outlook, client documentation systems, and CRM tools).
**International Police Check** (if you have lived overseas for more than 12 months in the past 10 years).
**Highly Regarded & Preferred Skills (Desirable but Not Mandatory)**
✔ **Experience in personal care, Autism & ADHD support, emotional support, and mobility assistance**.
✔ **Experience in record management, incident reporting, and scheduling client activities**.
✔ **Previous work experience in individual support, aged care, disability, or community services**.
✔ **Flexibility to work a rotating roster**, including **morning, day, and evening shifts across 7 days**.
✔ **Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle** (incentives available for car usage).
✔ **Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills**.
