**Who is the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator?**
The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as a national entity responsible for
regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. Located in Brisbane, the NHVR minimises the
compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistencies across state and
territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.

Position Description | Return to Work & WHS Advisor
This role reports to the Senior Safety Advisor N.S.W and sits within the Health and Safety function of the People, Safety
and Culture team. It is an opportunity for a hands-on WHS and injury management business partner to lead, guide and
educate staff on managing critical safety risks and managing the return to work and injury management options across
the N.S.W organization.

**Primary Objectives**
Assist to develop, implement, and monitor the continuous improvement of workplace health and safety management
systems and practices at the NHVR.** **Manage end-to-end injury management, early return to work and workers
compensation processes***
**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities**
- Provide advice and recommendations on workplace health and safety (WHS) matters.
- Manage the end-to-end rehabilitation process, risk assessments, and return-to-work injury management for
workers compensation and non-workers compensation
- Facilitate the continuous improvement of the NHVR’s WHS management system.
- Demonstrate safety leadership and contribute to the development of a positive safety culture through the
NHVR.
- Work with employees and managers to increase organisational capability in WHS management.
- Work with employees, business units and managers to identify hazards and risks in their work systems.
- Undertake research and consultation in order to develop fit for purpose risk treatment strategies and controls.
- Plan and coordinate WHS assurance activities including audits and investigations, schedules and programs,
across NHVR business units and operations.
- Assist in the development and delivery of safety communication and education to employees and business
units.
- Develop high level documentation including reports, briefing notes, WHS policies and work procedures.
- Engage proactively with stakeholders across the NHVR to understand and address strategic and operational
WHS challenges.
- Comply with WH&S policies and procedures, and contribute to and promote a safe and healthy work
environment.
**Skills and Capabilities**
- Experience in coordinating end-to-end case management of risk assessments, investigations and return to
work/injury management within a white
- and blue-collar environment.
- High level understanding of WHS management systems and risk management principles in a safety critical
practices.
