**About the role**:
The Category Specialist at InvoCare is a key appointment within the newly established Merchandise function and over time, be responsible for the overall management and profitability of a specific product category within InvoCare.

Reporting to the General Manager of Merchandise, you will analyze data and insights to identify industry and consumer trends, devise long-term strategies for product categories and develop exit strategies for unsuccessful products.

Key responsibilities include
- Foster trust relationships with suppliers to achieve better pricing and quality of services
- Place appropriate orders to ensure product availability that meets consumer demands
- Determine the positioning of a product category to maximize visibility
- Liaise with marketing teams to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of a product category
- Collaborate with buyers and merchandisers to expand product categories
- Make forecasts for product demand to ensure the sustainability of inventoryAssume responsibility for budget development and revenue for category

Our InvoCare support office is currently located in North Sydney and we are thrilled to announce our office will be relocating to Sydney West (Rhodes - Parramatta) in 2025.

**What you’ll bring**:
Your demonstrated experience, ideally a minimum of 2 years, will be in a Junior Buying, Category Specialist or Category Assistant position in Large Format Retail, Grocery or FMCG (not raw materials procurement). Previous experience within the funeral industry is also highly regarded.
- A tertiary qualification in Business Management or a related field is desirable
- Ability to work within sales revenue key performance indicator parameters
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills to ensure a comprehensive understanding of business processes
- Effective communication with executive levels and the ability to manage major decision points
- Strong commercial acumen, financial literacy, negotiation skills, and project management capabilityHigh attention to detail, objective mindset, and collaborative nature
