**POSITION PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE**
This position is responsible for undertaking duties that support the operations and
maintenance relating to plant operations, labouring and other works including but not
limited to Council’s roads, drainage and footpath assets.
The position will maintain a high level of service by operating and maintaining the plant
equipment in a professional manner and to agreed standards.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Ensures plant is operated effectively and efficiently to achieve the Council’s goals and
objectives.
- Ensures plant is maintained on a daily basis following manufacturer’s specifications
and kept in a clean and tidy state.
- Ensures plant is operated in a safe manner following safe work method statements
and manufacturer's instructions.
- Ensures plant is operated safely when working in proximity of overhead or
underground utility services.
- Assist with worksite preparation, measuring, marking and basic levelling.
- Maintain worksite/workplace tidiness and cleanliness.
- Undertake and comply with risk assessments and work method statements (WMS) in
relation to worksite activities.
- Support other plant operators through directing movement of plant and loads and
communicating work site conditions and information.
- Respond to emergency situations as requested.

- Undertake training to maintain, update and advance personal skill levels and in
compliance with relevant workplace legislation.
- Operation of mobile technology for use with pre-start checks and plant operation, in
addition to work scheduling and work completion through Council’s management
system.
- Accurately record work activities for plant sheets and daily running sheets.
- Traffic Control Management duties as required.
- Prepare estimates of resource requirements (i.e. labour, plant, materials and time) for
various works as required.
- Ensure allocated plant performs to expected capacity to allow timely completion of
maintenance schedules, programs and customer service requests.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions (with appropriate protective clothing)
- Undertake other duties as required that are within the limits of the employee’s ability
including labouring duties or the operation of other plant and equipment where suitably
licenced and experienced.
