As a Trainee Support Worker, you’ll work within our group and day programs to help participants achieve their personal goals and develop independence. You’ll learn alongside experienced Support Workers, gaining practical skills in providing personal care, community engagement, and group activity support—all while contributing to meaningful change in the lives of those you assist. Key Responsibilities: Participant Support/strong: Assist participants in achieving their personal goals through group and day program activities, under the guidance of experienced staff. Learning and Development/strong: Complete Certificate III Individual Support Disability requirements and gain experience in delivering disability support services. Administrative Support/strong: Learn and utilise our systems to accurately document participant progress and maintain records. Safety and Compliance/strong: Follow workplace health and safety guidelines, contributing to a safe and supportive environment for all.

Role Description

Ability to work collaboratively within a team and seek guidance from mentors and supervisors. Shows strong verbal and written communication, suitable for working with participants, and other team members. Dependable and punctual, with a commitment to complete the traineeship requirements. Motivated to develop practical skills and theoretical knowledge as part of the traineeship. Work alongside Support Workers to assist participants in achieving their personal goals within group and day program settings. Support participants with community participation, group activities, and in-center engagements. Develop skills in providing personal care, including assistance with hygiene, toileting, and feeding, under supervision. Assist in the safe and supportive delivery of behavior management plans. Complete all training requirements associated with the Certificate III Individual Support Disability. Participate in shadowing experienced Support Workers, taking on progressively more responsibility with guidance. Engage in regular supervision meetings to discuss progress, reflect on experiences, and set learning goals. Accurately record shift notes, availability, and other relevant data using Interchange Shoalhaven’s apps and platforms. Assist in completing timesheets, travel records, and shift updates. Support accurate reporting and documentation as per Interchange Shoalhaven’s policies.

**Required Skills**:
Enrolment in or eligibility for Certificate III in Individual Support Disability NDIS Worker Screening Check/strong, or willingness to obtain. Working with Children Check/strong, or willingness to obtain. Current First Aid Certificate/strong, or willingness to obtain.
