The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Sergeant provide a critical role within Sheriff's Operations Victoria, South East Metro Region
About the Business Unit
The Sergeant is a region-wide resource, providing senior, strategic support focusing on the achievement of performance targets. This is achieved by: contribution to Regional operational and service delivery; planning; managing a caseload; supervising assigned operations, complex cases and work projects; and participation in the review and improvement of operational procedures and processes.
About the Role
The Sergeant manages a team of Sheriff's and Senior Sheriff's Officers, overseeing the effective and efficient actioning of warrants to ensure the achievement of the clearance of warrants and undertaking more sensitive, complex and higher risk warrant actioning and field duties. The Sergeant is responsible for Sheriffs' and Senior Sheriff Officers' formal supervision, performance management and mentoring. Additionally, in conjunction with the Regional Manager, the Sergeant plans and oversees field operations, including actioning targeted responses and coordinating joint activities with other agencies.
The Sergeant position is a uniformed role and requires the incumbent to work on a rostered work pattern.
**Some of your duties will include**:
- Manage a team of Sheriff's Officers and Senior Sheriff's Officers in a complex work unit with the execution of standard and non-standard process, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures (Standards of Service).
- Plan and schedule daily work activities, maintain accurate records, undertake, and prepare reports relating to special projects and routine activities.
- Development, coordination and implementation of projects and prepares reports, briefs and associated correspondences as directed by the Regional Manager.

About you
**To be successful in this role, you will have**:
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in Sheriff's Operations.
- Must be deemed competent in enforcing all warrant types.
**Qualifications**:
- Satisfactory completion of Certificate IV Government (Court Compliance) (desirable)
- Satisfactory completion of Certificate IV Training & Assessment (desirable).
