Be part of a panel of gender equality, disability and social inclusion consultants providing advice on the Australian Government’s Climate Resilient Communities (CRC) program in the Indo-Pacific, covering the Pacific, Southeast Asia and South Asia regions
About the Program
Initiated in July 2024, Climate Resilient Communities (CRC) aims to ensure people in the Indo-Pacific are more resilient to climate change and disasters.
Led by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), CRC supports implementation of Australia’s climate change commitments and International Development Policy, in line with partner government priorities. CRC incentivises funding towards inclusive climate and disaster resilience programming, with a focus on the water, food, and energy sectors. It does this by increasing climate investments, driving climate integration, and better addressing climate and disaster risk across Australia’s development portfolio.
DT Global has been engaged by DFAT to support implementation of CRC.
About the Role
CRC is recruiting gender equality, disability equity and social inclusion consultants to join its GEDSI Panel. Panel members provide high quality technical gender equality, disability equity and social inclusion advice on climate program activities and plans at the regional or country level, with DFAT staff, partner governments and CRC implementing partners.
A range of opportunities arise for consultants on the Panel. Consultants with experience working in Indo-Pacific, with all levels of experience are encouraged to apply, including early career.
About You
CRC is looking to engage consultants with skills, expertise and experience in the following areas:
- Gender-climate nexus
- Disability-climate nexus
- Disability equity and rights in climate and disaster resilience
- Climate change
- Disaster Risk Reduction
- Ending violence against women
- Crisis services and response in disaster situations
- Women's economic empowerment
- Value chain analysis and Market Systems Development
- Women's leadership and decision making
- Civil society organisation capacity strengthening
- Gender responsive monitoring, evaluation and learning
- Research
- Design and design reviews
- Conducting scoping and feasibility studies
- Gender-sensitive infrastructure
- Community development and local stakeholder engagement
- Indo-Pacific GEDSI experience (including LGBTQIA+)
- Working with women's rights organisations
- Locally led and/or First Nations approaches to GEDSI
Selection Criteria
- Experience working on international development programs
- Experience living and/or working in countries where DFAT implements development programs
- Familiarity with DFAT requirements
- Understanding and commitment to gender equality, disability equity and rights, social inclusion
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement and management skills (early career people will be encouraged and supported to develop these skills)
- Ability to work in teams - cross-cultural, cross-disciplinary, in person and virtually, and with diverse levels of experience
- Proven ability to develop capacity of others and share knowledge and learning
- Commitment to professional development, including continuous learning and upskilling, as needed.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant or related fields of expertise
- Technical capacity and expertise of relevant professional experience in the Indo-Pacific
- Ability and self-initiative to carry out assigned tasks in a team under mínimal supervision as well as an individual on a specific assignment.
