Typical Assessment Officer Responsibilities:

  • Assess and process applications in accordance with program guidelines, legislation, and policy frameworks
  • Conduct research, data entry, and record management to support program delivery
  • Provide accurate and timely advice to internal and external stakeholders
  • Draft and review correspondence, reports, and documentation
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of assessment processes and procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold APS values in all aspects of work
  • Assist with coordination of projects, reporting, and quality assurance activities

What We Look For in Candidates: We're seeking detail-oriented and professional individuals who can manage competing priorities while applying sound judgment and analytical thinking.

General Requirements:

  • Australian Citizenship (mandatory)
  • Experience in assessment, program delivery, or administrative support within the APS or a similar environment
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management or workflow systems
  • Sound understanding of government processes, policy application, or compliance requirements
