Located in Bicton, Carinya Care Services has been caring for elderly West Australian’s for over 50 years. As a family run business, everything our dedicated team do is built on care and compassion, with the resident at the heart and soul of our person-centered care model.

We provide Residential and TCP services and are currently seeking a dedicated individual who strives for best practice, can communicate well with people of all backgrounds and is motivated to make a genuine difference to the lives of our elderly residents.

On offer is a permanent full-time position, working Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.

You will work under the direction of the Physiotherapist to deliver holistic care to the residents of the Transitional Care unit. This unit provides a range of short-term care services to eligible elderly people following a hospital stay to help them regain as much independence as possible. With a maximum stay of 12 weeks, this program assists clients in making long term care and support arrangements for either their journey back into a home setting or into Residential Aged Care.

You will deliver therapeutic and pain management activities to our residents, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to bring a high level of energy and innovation to all therapy programs to ensure meaningful engagement for residents.

Key responsibilities:

- Participate in the organisation and planning of therapy programs
- Deliver a range of therapy based activity programs, for groups and individual residents as directed.
- Provide safe and effective services and supports for daily living that meets the emotional, spiritual and psychological wellbeing needs of residents.
- Maintain records and progress notes as required by the Physiotherapist, reporting findings on responses to treatments and programs and contribute observations for assessment and care evaluations.
- Assists with mobilising and transferring clients - moving from place to place and position to position.
- Attends regular meetings with the Physiotherapist to review client outcomes and treatment programs.

To be successful in this role you will have:

- Certificate III Allied Health Assistance (or similar)
- Previous experience in a Therapy Assistant role, ideally in an aged care or other health care environment (desirable)
- Experience working with residents with dementia would be an advantage
- Valid Police Clearance less than 6 months old (or provide a receipt at interview stage)
- The ability to work as a team and individually
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability and commitment to uphold high standards of work
- A passion and empathy for working with the elderly

**Salary**: $30.00 - $31.00 per hour

- Certificate I - IV (preferred)
