**About the Role**

Reporting to the Operations Manager - Festivals, the Games Festival Operations Executive plays a crucial role in delivering the SXSW Sydney Games Festival. This role focuses on the operational and logístical aspects that bring 150+ games showcases and 25+ industry and networking sessions and events across multiple traditional and non-traditional venues throughout the precinct.

The Operations Executive will work closely with suppliers, contractors, and venue partners to ensure seamless production, technical delivery, scheduling, and budgeting. Internally, they will collaborate with the Operations Team and wider event departments to meet accessibility, signage, staffing, ticketing, and hospitality needs.

This role is ideal for someone with a passion for the games and technology industries with strong operational expertise, who thrives in fast-paced environments and is committed to delivering a world-class festival experience.

**Requirements**:
**What does a day in the life look like?**
- Support the Operations Manager - Festivals and other key members of the Operations team in delivering the unique event requirements of the Games Festival, ensuring a seamless experience for talent, publishers and attendees.
- Assist in developing and implementing project plans, ensuring all operational elements are delivered in time and to a high standard.
- Support the Operations Manager - Festivals and other key members of the Operations team across procurement process for key suppliers and contractors, including logistics, venue hire, technical management, and staffing, as required.
- Act as a key operational contact for external stakeholders, ensuring they have everything they need to deliver a seamless games showcase experience and successful professional events while maintaining event scheduling, approvals, onsite execution, and WHS compliance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with SXSW Sydney stakeholders, fostering a collaborative approach to delivering a high-quality event.
- Assist in financial oversight of operational costs, including budget tracking, invoicing, and phasing plans while identifying opportunities for cost efficiencies.
- Ensure all operational suppliers adhere to health and safety requirements, supporting compliance across all onsite activities.

**About you**

**Essential Skills and Experience**
- Minimum 4 years of experience in event operations, ideally in gaming events or exhibitions
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with an ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven experience in large-scale event procurement and logistics coordination.
- Ability to negotiate and contract suppliers and contractors effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and quickly resolve logístical and operational challenges.
- Exceptional attention to detail in all aspects of event planning and execution.
- Knowledge of risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and WHS compliance.
- Experience in managing large teams of event staff and volunteers.
- Highly organised, with a talent for managing complex spreadsheets and project plans.

**Desirable Skills and Experience**
- Experience in gaming events and / or exhibitions
- Understanding of the APAC gaming industry
