The General Counsel Division provides support to DVA business groups by providing current and effective legislative and legal advice to assist them in the delivery of corporate goals. The Division is also responsible for providing audit, Comcover administration, business continuity plan (BCP) coordination, and risk management functions within DVA. This provides a framework that aims to minimise risks against DVA and ensure controls are in place to mitigate those risks. The Division consists of the following; Audit and Risk Management, Corporate Legal Branch, Litigation and Advice Branch and the Royal Commission Taskforce.

**Duties**

There are two positions:

- Assistant Director, External Audit
- Assistant Director, Internal Audit and Governance

These positions are responsible for leading small teams coordinating the Department's external and internal audit functions.

The teams are responsible for:

- creating productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- tracking and reporting on the implementation of recommendations
- the provision of secretariat support.
