**About the roles;**
**Cleaner**
This position will work as part of a cohesive team by undertaking general cleaning for the provision of high quality services. You will work in a safe and inclusive manner that reflects our Southern Cross Care Better for life model to provide person centred care and support.
Daily duties in this role include but are not limited to;
- Dusting and polishing of furniture
- Mopping, sweeping and vacuuming of floors
- Cleaning bathrooms and toilets
- Removal of rubbish
- Listening with empathy to residents and their representatives about cleaning
requests and reporting to the Supervisor any requests that cannot be immediately actioned
- Supporting and mentoring new housekeeping staff as well as assisting other cleaning staff as required
**Laundry Attendant**
The Laundry Attendant will provide safe and effective cleaning services that support the daily living needs, goals and preferences for residents in accordance with their care and service plan.
Key Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
- performing routine laundry tasks including washing, drying, sorting, ironing and folding
- reading washing and drying instructions on garments prior to commencing laundry
- carrying out any required repairs to residents’ clothing
- reporting promptly any maintenance requirements for furnishings and fittings
- Supporting and mentoring new housekeeping staff
- Reporting to Nursing staff any observed behavioural change in any resident
- Working positively and collaboratively with other staff to provide person-centred
safe and effective cleaning services and supports

**About you**
- Previous cleaning experience in a commercial cleaning role
- Previous laundry experience in a commercial role
- Adequate communication skills and a good level of English literacy including the ability to speak in a manner that older people can understand
- Ability to read written instructions including but not limited to the safe use of cleaning chemicals
- Good organisational and time management skills as well as the ability to work with mínimal supervision, whilst taking ownership of own workload to meet deadlines
- A basic understanding of the requirements to support residents living with dementia including those who display challenging behaviours
