**The Opportunity**

The School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications has an opportunity for a Research Associate. In this role, you will predominantly work on a research project conducting independent and collaborative research focused on developing wireless and underwater acoustic communications and signal processing technologies for future integrated communications and sensing systems. This interdisciplinary research covers areas such as communications theory, signal processing, iterative receivers, and sensing. The project is ideal for researchers with a keen interest in future communication and sensing systems, signal processing and localisation, or software-defined radio development and testing.

This position will give you the opportunity to develop your research skills and output by contributing to the writing of scientific papers and reports for international journals. Additionally, you will have the chance to participate in conferences and workshops and assist in the supervision of research students and final-year thesis students.

This role reports to Prof. Jinhong Yuan and has no direct reports.
- Salary, Level A - $110,059 to $117,718 per annum + 17% superannuation
- Full time

**Skills & Experience**
- A PhD (or soon to be awarded) in Electrical Engineering or Telecommunications, and/or relevant work experience.
- Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments in wireless communications and signal processing.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
- Experience in delay-doppler domain modulation and signal processing, including channel estimation and detection, or machine-learning for wireless communications.
- Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
