Senior Communications Technician

Digicom Wireless is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Communications Technician to join our Sydney team. This role covers the full spectrum of modern communications – from UHF operations radio and Public Safety Networks (PSN) through to cellular repeaters, Nextivity systems, and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS).

You'll play a hands-on role in the installation, commissioning, and optimisation of systems that solve connectivity challenges in complex environments — from warehouses and offices through to mission-critical facilities. This includes both UHF/PSN radio solutions and cellular/DAS applications. Alongside your technical expertise, you'll supervise and mentor a small team, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standard.

As a Motorola Platinum Dealer, Digicom Wireless has a strong foundation in UHF radio, DMR, and broadband radio solutions, delivering reliable comms for critical industries across NSW. Building on this expertise, we are also driving significant growth in the cellular and DAS space, with solutions spanning Nextivity, carrier-grade repeater systems, and enterprise DAS.

• Installing, commissioning, and optimising UHF two-way radio systems, PSN solutions, cellular repeaters (Nextivity), and DAS infrastructure.
• Undertaking coverage testing, spectrum analysis, PIM testing, and system acceptance checks.
• Diagnosing and resolving complex RF and mobile connectivity issues across UHF and cellular systems.
• Leading a small team of technicians, coordinating workflow, and mentoring junior staff.
• Preparing accurate technical documentation, as-built records, and reports.
• Supporting DAS applications across enterprise, carrier, and public safety environments. (Exposure to MCF 2025 cellular DAS standards is highly desirable.)
• Liaising with mobile carriers, enterprise clients, and other stakeholders to ensure projects meet compliance, performance, and safety requirements.
• Ensuring all work complies with ACMA regulations, RF safety standards, and WHS protocols.

• Qualifications in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or RF Technology.
• Proven experience with UHF operations radio, PSN, cellular repeaters (Cel-Fi, Nextivity, carrier-grade), and DAS installations.
• Understanding of DAS applications and their integration into enterprise and public safety environments.
• Exposure to MCF 2025 cellular DAS standards desirable.
• Experience with mobile carrier projects and/or Public Safety Networks (PSN) – highly regarded.
• Strong RF diagnostic skills with test equipment such as spectrum analysers, network analysers, and PIM testers.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, or the right attitude and drive to step into a Leading Hand role.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with clients, stakeholders, and your team.
• Current ACMA Open Cabling Licence (or willingness to obtain).
