**Staff Specialist in Child Protection**
**Fixed term temporary part time (0.8 FTE to 30 June 2025)**
Key responsibilities include the acute assessment of children and young people at risk of physical or sexual abuse and neglect. Additionally, there are opportunities for outpatient assessment and care for children facing paediatric health and developmental challenges. The role may also involve participating in child protection education programs.
The successful applicant will be required to contribute to the on-call roster for Child Protection and Sexual Assault services, as well as the State Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Clinical Advice Line (CASACAL).
**Essential requirements**:
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Paediatrics, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways
- Evidence of being a medical expert, demonstrated by recent and comprehensive experience in child protection and/or general paediatrics
- Demonstrated capability in the medical evaluation and management of children who have been physical or sexually abused or neglected, and detailed understanding of relevant legislation and legal obligations related to such children including forensic skills
