**What your day will look like**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Assist the Front Office Team to ensure smooth operations and outstanding guest service.
- Organise duty rosters, ensuring adequate staffing coverage during peak periods and arranging standby options for unexpected absences.
- Be available during check-in periods to promptly address and resolve any guest issues or concerns.
- Ensure that reception staff are dressed in the appropriate uniform, enhancing the hotel's image and creating a welcoming ambiance.
- Greet guests warmly, with a genuine smile and eye contact, while efficiently completing registration formalities, paying attention to city ledgers and credit limits.
- Liaise with the reservations team to pre-allocate rooms, considering any special requests and recognising regular and VIP guests.
- Foster cooperation and helpfulness between all hotel departments to provide a seamless guest experience.
- Maintain close communication with the housekeeping department regarding check-outs, room movements, and other related matters.
- Arrange suitable alternative accommodation for confirmed or regular guests when the hotel is fully occupied.
- Ensure compliance with the maximum room occupancy in line with our established policies.
- Conduct regular performance appraisals for reception staff, identifying areas for development and training needs.
- Provide on-the-job training to ensure that all reception duties are performed correctly and in accordance with company standards, addressing training needs identified during performance appraisals.
- Report any faults or defects to the maintenance department for prompt resolution.
- Maintain a vigilant security approach, implementing effective procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of our guests and staff.
- Demonstrate flexibility by supporting other departments as required.
- Utilise excellent organisation and planning skills to effectively schedule tasks and responsibilities.
- Maintain mental alertness, concentration, and attention to detail while performing tasks.
- Manage time constraints to complete work in a timely and safe manner.
- Provide team leadership, make informed decisions, and supervise, train, and discipline staff under the guidance of this position.
- Exercise keen attention to detail and accuracy to ensure the completion of all work.
- Follow oral and written instructions and complete assignments promptly.
- Possess intermediate mathematical skills and proficient English language skills (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Be available to work irregular hours as per the demands of the role.
- Work independently, demonstrating self-motivation and the ability to perform assigned tasks.
- Train, cross-train, and retrain all front office personnel
- Hold a valid RSA certification

**What we'd like to see**:

- 1-2 years of hotel front-desk experience, experience handling cash, accounting procedures, and general administrative tasks.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and connect with guests from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- General administrative experience, and using Microsoft Office programs and, the use of OPERA cloud is also essential.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, to accommodate the 24/7 nature of the hospitality industry.
- A passion for delivering outstanding guest experiences and exceeding expectations.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
- Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
