SYC’s** Specialised Residential Care (SRC)** program supports young people aged 10 to 18 who have experienced significant trauma, abuse, and neglect by utilising a therapeutic approach. Our dedicated team work with children and young people to achieve emotional wellbeing and personal growth. We are seeking a **Care and Engagement Coordinator** to join our team on a** full-time basis until the 31 December 2025 (Max-term contract).**

Reporting to the Therapeutic Team Leader you will be responsible for effective in-home daily residential care within our SRC Homes, ensuring positive and consistent environment where young people feel safe, and supported.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Develop and promote a positive and thriving environment within the SRC home.
- Support the Therapeutic Care Workers (TCW) with day-to-day supervision, guidance, coaching, and mentoring to enable the delivery of quality therapeutic care.
- Foster a therapeutic environment that promotes a safety, stability, and connection for your people.
- Work collaboratively with the Therapeutic Team Leaders to support the team and ensure consistent care practices.
- Contribute to health and safety inspections and reporting while supporting the team to complete mandatory and developmental training.
- Work alongside the Department of Child Protection (DCP) case management to ensure all elements of the child or young person’s care needs are met.
- Ensure all administration tasks are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in care practices and documentation to ensure compliance and quality standards are met.

**About You**
- Previous experience working with young people with complex trauma.
- Experience in residential care, youth work, or a related field, with a sound understanding of therapeutic care practices.
- Strong engagement skills and the ability to interact effectively and sensitively with young people, families, peers, and other service providers to achieve positive outcomes with clients.
- Ability to identify and respond effectively to crisis situations with a calm, solutions-focused approach.
- Strong mentoring and coaching skills to support and develop team members.
- Highly organised with excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise competing the demands.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and positive relationships.

**For this role, you will need to**:

- Hold a minimum degree level qualification in Social Work, Social Science, Psychology Occupational Therapy, or other allied health services or currently working towards one.
- Hold and maintain an approved First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Hold and maintain Safe Environments for Children and Young People Certificate.
- Be prepared to undergo a psychological assessment.
- Be willing to complete a Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
- Have possession of a current valid Driver’s License, willingness to drive.
- Be eligible to work in Australia.
