Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with autism, intellectual disabilities, challenging behaviours and complex and diverse needs, including students impacted by trauma who may have mental health / emotional disturbances.

Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively, proactively and professionally with a diverse community of colleagues, parents, carers, school learning and support officers, and support agencies to enhance outcomes for students with specific learning needs and to build a culture of inclusion.

High-level organisational and management skills to balance classroom teaching with the complex administration demands of the Assistant Principal role, in line with Department of Education policies and procedures.

Demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing and a proven ability to implement high quality differentiated curriculum, including the development and implementation of student individualised learning plans using evidence-based practices that impact positively on student engagement.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
