**Harmony Club**
Harmony Club offers companionship and social connection for older people and those with a disability in our community. A person-centred approach is taken to the planning of services and programs that are provided through our day respite centre and social support activities. Each month a program of activities is offered which include outings, centre-based activities (indoor bowls, craft, board games, trivia, exercises), concerts and music. Participants access the service either through their aged care or NDIS funding.
**The Role**:
Due to growth within our program, we are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic person to join our team of Harmony Club Support Workers. In the role you will facilitate our clients to participate in the day respite program and activities on offer and social support activities in the community. The position reports directly to the Harmony Club Coordinator and assists with leave coverage for other support works and the Food Services Supervisor which includes preparing and cooking meals for up to 20 clients per day. It is offered initially on a casual basis.
**Key** **Responsibilities**:
Harmony Club Support Workers are responsible for:
- Planning and implementing social support and day respite activities in conjunction with the Harmony Club Coordinator
- Talking, engaging with, and encouraging social interaction with Harmony Club Clients and assisting them to participate in activities both within the centre and community.
- Safe transport of clients to and from the centre and in the community
- Assisting clients with their personal care needs
- Completion of client documentation including progress notes, incident forms etc.
- Provide supervision and direction to volunteers they may be working with in the completion of daily activities
- Experience in working with frail aged and those with a disability in a community setting.
- Can communicate and engage with people from diverse backgrounds
- Experience in the planning, implementation and facilitation of group and social support activities
- Qualification in Aged Care/Community/Disability
- Current open QLD Drivers Licence and the ability and confidence to drive an 11-seater bus
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate
**Skills that would be an asset to you in this role**:
- Ability to be flexible and willingness to help grow the Harmony Club Program
- Willingness to listen to others and ability to talk, socialise and engage with people
- Able to work with limited supervision and as part of a small team
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Willingness to work within the ethos of the Uniting Church
