The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.

Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 65,000, and an expenditure budget in excess of $118 million. The population is culturally diverse with 9.9% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.

A vacancy for a Rates and Revenue Officer has become available within the Greater Shepparton City Council’s Rates and Revenue department.
The position of Rates and Revenue Officer is responsible for performing numerous administrative and operational functions to assist in the management of Council’s rates revenue collection.

To be considered for this position, you will need:

- Organisation and time management skills combined with the ability to handle competing priorities to adapt to fluctuating workloads and changing priorities
- The ability to work to deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
- Skills and experience working within a customer service environment
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and build relationships with key stakeholders
- Strong oral, written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office

Key Responsibilities include:

- Processing Supplementary Valuation and Objections;
- Maintaining Council’s property ownership records and name & address register;
- Maintaining the integrity of data in relation to Rates and Revenue functions;
- Processing financial adjustments; and
- Attending to enquiries from ratepayers, Government agencies and external contractors.
