The Principal Policy Officer will lead the development and delivery of key initiatives of the Planned Surgery Recovery and Reform Program (the Program).
The role will also involve supporting the key government committees that provide oversight, and ensuring that reporting, and underlying data systems accurately reflect and monitor progress.
To be successful in this role, you will be a high performing individual with strong analytical, problem solving, project management and communication skills. You are diligent and comfortable working on complex issues and building positive relationships across a broad range of stakeholders.
Accountabilities
- Provide high quality business intelligence, authoritative advice and sound policy and project recommendations to senior management and government based on comprehensive research and analysis.
- Review and report on high priority issues, risks and trends using health service data and prepare and present comprehensive and accurate reports, ministerial briefs and cabinet and agency submissions on complex issues.
- Oversee the development of policy and project initiatives that meet government and departmental objectives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
- Share your expertise with others with a focus on building capability across the team and broader department.
- Work across multiple projects, including designing and managing complex projects, and lead multi-disciplinary teams to meet emerging and significant work pressures and demands, as required.
- Pro-actively build and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate collaboration across the department and with key external stakeholders.
- Respond flexibly and adapt approaches in order to deliver outcomes in the face of uncertainty.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
