You’ll be able to work close to home in a dynamic setting featuring cafes and retail options set amongst heritage buildings and open green spaces. **The Opportunity** The Environmental Health team is looking for an experienced Environmental Health Officer to proactively protect public health for the City of Melton, administering responsibilities under the Food Act 1984, Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008, Environmental Protection Act 2017, Tobacco Act 1987 as well as other public health legislation. This position reports to the Coordinator Environmental Health and sits in the Community Safety Department. This role will contribute to the success of Melton City Council by protecting the health, safety and well-being of the community through education and enforcement activities. **Key Responsibilities** - Perform inspections and take enforcement action as required to ensure compliance. - Conduct investigations of notified infectious disease outbreaks and any nuisance complaints received. - Generate relevant documentation and assist with initiating legal proceedings as directed in relation to breaches within areas of responsibility. - Work with the Environmental Health team to establish positive communications with the public and educate, promote and assist with the need for compliance with the various statutes, legislation and local laws.
