The Role
We have opportunities at Robina and Southport for experienced Gardeners to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia. There are positions at Robina and Southport locations.
You will
- Develop and implement a landscape maintenance program
- Establish and maintain lawns, gardens, grounds, buildings, and equipment around our facilities
- Operate machinery and equipment
- Ensure safe storage and handling of chemicals
- Implement soil improvements for gardens and turfed areas
- Control plant pests, diseases and weeds
- Perform specialist pruning of trees and plants
- Maintain grounds and courtyard areas in a tidy state including the removal of relevant waste
- Plan and maintain garden and or plant displays
- Carry out facilities inspections
- Assist in the design, installation and maintenance of irrigation systems.

Salary
- Permanent full time (two positions)
- Base salary $68 654 per annum

About you

**To be successful in this position you will require**:

- Certificate 3 qualification in Horticulture or equivalent
- Possess an Agricultural Chemicals Distribution Control (ACDC) Licence
- Drivers Licence (position requires the incumbent to operate a government vehicle)
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis A
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

About Us
The Maintenance Service department operates across a major, complex tertiary service based at Robina.
Maintenance Services sits within the service line of Asset Management Services, Strategic Planning and Assets division and comprises of a maintenance manager, maintenance coordinators, administrative staff, trade coordinators and approximately twenty trade staff including apprentices. Included in the trades are electricians, plumbers, fitters, painters, carpenters, refrigeration technicians and gardeners.
Maintenance Services is responsible for statutory, preventative, and reactive maintenance across the GCHHS.
