The Tribunal's primary purpose is to review the involuntary status of persons with a mental illness and/or intellectual disability. Further information regarding the Tribunal can be found here. Above all, the Tribunal seeks to make hearings fair, accessible to all parties and to promote involvement from consumers.

**Legal Member**:

- A lawyer of at least 5 years standing

**Medical Member**:

- A registered psychiatrist, preferably a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists

**Community Member**:

- A person who is not a lawyer or a doctor but has other qualifications and experience that are relevant to exercising the Tribunal's jurisdiction

First Nations people and those from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds, are encouraged to apply.

Applicants with experience or expertise in the intellectual disability field, particularly forensic disability, are encouraged to apply.
