The Mental Health Review Tribunal (the Tribunal) is an independent government body operating in accordance with the Mental Health Act 2016 (Qld). The Tribunal's primary purpose is to review the involuntary status of persons with a mental illness and/or intellectual disability. Further information regarding the Tribunal can be found here.
Legal Member:
A lawyer of at least five (5) years standing. That is, you must be admitted to the legal profession in Australia for a minimum of five (5) years.
Medical Member:
A registered psychiatrist, preferably a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
Community Member:
A person who is not a lawyer or a doctor but has other qualifications and experience that are relevant to exercising the Tribunal's jurisdiction.
People from a diverse range of backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
People with lived experience are also encouraged to apply.
Applicants with experience or expertise in the intellectual disability field, particularly forensic disability, are also encouraged to apply.
