The Department of Treasury and Finance provides economic, financial and resource management advice to help the Victorian Government deliver its policies. We strive for excellence in financial and economic management to improve the lives of all Victorians.
Invest Victoria is the Victorian Government's key economic development agency responsible for setting and implementing the Government's investment strategy and attracting Foreign Direct Investment opportunities.
The Innovation and Partnerships team within the Investment division of Invest Victoria undertakes investment attraction activity, particularly strategic investments that contribute to Victoria's innovation ecosystem. The team provides a coordinating role in bringing internal Victorian government partners and external partners together to enable collaboration and transformative investment in Victoria.
About the role You will be a key member of a dynamic team focused on securing investment across five of the State's key sectors, including Advanced Manufacturing, Health and Life Sciences, Agri-business and Agri-food, New Energy and Emissions Reduction, and Digital Technologies. Your main responsibilities include:
- Proactively research and identify strategic lead generation activities to secure investment opportunities that deliver key strategic outcomes for the State, new high value jobs, and R&D activity.
- Provide high level advice, analysis and guidance to ministers and senior executives on the economic issues and trends relevant to Invest Victoria's key sectors and potential economic impact on Victoria.
- Support the Innovation and Partnerships team with investment activities and economic development strategies, including analysis on issues, strategies and initiatives relating to projects.
About you
You are a confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills seeking a diverse career supporting Victoria's economic development. You will also have a key understanding of government interventions that support industry and sector ecosystems. You will also possess:
- Demonstrated understanding of Victoria's value proposition as a location for international business investment and an appreciation of current issues impacting on industry investment decisions and economic development nationally and internationally.
- An ability to undertake complex and thorough research and briefings on key issues relating to investment projects and Invest Victoria initiatives.
