Community Transport Driver

STAR Community Services is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated **Community Transport Driver (Casual)** to join our team in Cleveland. STAR Community Services LTD is a leading not-for-profit organisation providing transport, aged care, and disability support services to the elderly, frail, and those with disabilities. We are proud to support members of our community enjoy a healthier, independent life. We are currently servicing Redlands, Ipswich, Logan River Valley, Gold Coast, Toowoomba & Warwick.
**What you'll be doing**
As a **Community Transport Driver (Casual)**, you pick-up and deliver clients from their residence to their destination in a timely manner, whilst ensuring a safe, comfortable and friendly environment and the return of clients to their residences in the shortest practical time after completion of their activities, in the same safe, comfortable and friendly environment, in a manner that is reflective of STAR Community Services’s values of respect, dignity and empowerment
**What the role involves (not limited to)**:
- Obtain drivers manifest pertaining to that day’s work.
- Pick-up registered clients from their homes and drop off at predetermined destinations.
- Carryout vehicle inspection in accordance with vehicle check sheet.
- Complete all paperwork, including but not limited to daily manifest, kilometres, vehicle inspection and time cards.
- Ensure the STAR Office is aware of any problems regarding vehicles or passengers while on duty and report any issues to the Radio Room. Communicate all accidents and client incidents to the radio room.
- Clean inside of vehicle on completion of work day, and exterior as required to ensure a high standard of presentation to the public at large.
- Return vehicle keys, paper work and money received to the STAR Office. Ensure vehicle is secured at the end of the day.
- Backfill paid driver leaves and driver on ad hoc basis depending on demand.
- Participate in training to maintain compliance under federal and state funding guidelines.
- Other duties as required.
**Qualifications and or Experience**:
- Have a safe driving history.
- Familiarity with local area and with the Greater Brisbane area an advantage. A degree of familiarity with major hospitals is also an advantage
- Able to deal with frail aged persons or persons with a disability are desirable.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders with demonstrated ability to deal with challenging and vulnerable clients with complex needs.
- Well-developed organisational, time management and prioritisation skills. Demonstrated ability with written, numeracy and computer skills to complete record keeping requirements.
- Ability to manage, interpret and work the schedule on the tablets in vehicles.
- Demonstrated competency in the use of phone / communication technology.
- Demonstrated basic computer skills, the ability to use technology and online tools for reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and within a team environment to support the provision of high quality services to clients. Assume responsibility for making decisions in accordance with clear and established Procedures and Work Instructions in a client-focused environment.

- Demonstrated ability to handle the challenges that occur in an organisation driver by change and innovation.
**Minimum requirements**:
- Be eligible to work in Australia.
- Possession of an unrestricted current Australian Driver's Licence.
- To hold a valid/current QLD Driver's Authorisation Licence (DA) or a valid QLD Restricted Driver Authorisation (RDA) which will be requested by STRA to the QLD Department of Transport and Main Roads on your behalf (Undergoing a specific Medical may be applicable as per requirements of TMR in order to assess the eligibility for the RDA).
- Provide a 5 year Traffic History Report from the QLD Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).
- Obtain Medical Clearance if necessary.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Fully COVID-19 vaccinated.
- Must have received the Flu Vaccination of the current year.
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or current Yellow Card).
- National Police check (current within 6 months).

**Remuneration**:
- This position is a Casual Level 1 role, paying $28.68 per hour under the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Industry Award 2010.
