**About the Centre/Service**
The Craig Family Centre is a community-based organisation that provides services to support individuals and families within the local community. The Centre offers a broad range of programs including Occasional childcare, 3 year old kindergarten and 4 year old kindergarten, playgroups, community programs and leisure activities. Membership is open to people of all ages, abilities, backgrounds and cultural groups. The Craig Family Centre is an incorporated association managed by an elected Committee of Management. As part of its incorporation process, the Centre identified the need to achieve very high professional standards and aims to achieve these through the delivery of safe, well planned and stimulating programs that respond positively to the individuals and families who use them.

**Description**
- Take observations of the children.
- Assist with the Children’s Portfolios, floor books, Learning Stories, Visual Diaries and planning as required.
- Work within the guidelines of the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations.
- Pro-actively assist with the implementation of a quality program for the children that will enhance children’s learning at CFC.
- Actively supervise children at all times whilst on duty at the Centre.
- Assist with the day-to-day running of a program that has been planned for the children.
- Assist with the children’s daily care routines.
- Work professionally with children with additional needs under the direction of other qualified professionals.
- Offer guidance, and assists other educators, particularly relief educators who are unfamiliar with the room and how it operates.
- Participates in any additional Program activities e.g. Grandparents’ day, and Parent Information Evenings as required.
- With other educators share the household tasks of preparation, hygiene, safety, and packing away as related to the daily program.
- Maintain and implement all work safe practices and procedures as described in the Employee Handbook, Policies and other work safe guidelines.
- Use safe food handling techniques as identified in the Centre’s Safe Food Program.
- Communicate openly and work co-operatively with Executive Director, team leader(s), other educators, parents, and the children.
- Attend monthly staff meetings (permanent positions only).
- Participate in discussion relating to policy development, quality assurance and the future directions of the Centre’s Programs.
- Actively participate in regular supervision meetings and annual educator appraisals.
- Attend to other duties as requested by the Executive Director/ Committee peripheral to the position.
- Perform all duties of a Children’s Services Employee in a professional manner.
**Qualifications**
- Certificate III in Children’s Services (or recognised and approved equivalent) or higher qualification.
- A sound understanding and knowledge of Early Childhood Developmental Principles.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with children and adults.
- Current Working With Children Check (employee status)
