**About the Role**

A current driver’s licence, private vehicle, and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (as a minimum) are requirements for this role.
In this role you would be working within our NATA accredited laboratory based in Mount Barker SA, but may need to be available for occasional overnight or short duration local, country and possible interstate travel in the future.
Depending on experience and qualifications, the general duties of this role would typically involve:
- Preparation of samples.
- Responsible for testing performed within our laboratory, this typically includes:
- Material strength (i.e. with use of a UTM)
- Porosity, absorption and density characteristics
- Durability
- Resistance to abrasion
- Slip resistance
- Stain & Chemical resistance
- Analysis of testing results & scientific reporting of investigations.
- Analysis and fitness for use evaluation of stone and related products typically proposed for use on heritage buildings, high-end residential and commercial projects.
- Other typical duties would involve _assisting_ with:
- Investigations into failure of installed stone and related products (e.g. stone cladding or paving)
- Testing of engineering components used with stone or similar products (e.g. stone cladding or paving)
- Compositional analysis of historic and modern mortar samples
- Examination, testing and various surveys on heritage buildings
- Equipment calibrations and maintenance
- Development of in-house test methods and design of equipment as required for non-standard testing or project requirements
- Assisting with the quality system (e.g. internal audits of quality system manual, performing calibration checks, etc)
It is expected that the successful applicant will have an opportunity for career advancement as their skills and knowledge grows in the laboratory.

Pay: $58,000.00 - $69,000.00 per year
