**The Position**
The Moreton Bay College is seeking a Secondary Teacher to fulfil the role of Head of House. Commencing in January 2025.
The Head of House (HOH) position is a significant middle management position. All teachers are appointed by CEO and Executive Principal, but the HOH is immediately responsible to the Deputy Head of Secondary (Students) and works as an integral pastoral team member with the other three Heads of House, College Chaplain, Head of Secondary and Secondary Counsellors.
The College offers a very broad programme in sporting, musical and pastoral activities. Due to the nature of the HOH role, there is an expectation of participation and support of co-curricular contributions of the College.
All staff need to be supportive of the values, Christian ethos and Ethical Statement of this Uniting Church day school for girls from PP-12.

**The Pastoral Context**

The Pastoral Care system involves all members of the community, and a specific staff structure to explicitly focus on the development of outstanding pastoral care in the College.
**The Head of House Role**
Heads of House have a vital leadership role and are influential in enhancing the College culture. They are responsible for the implementation of initiatives that will impact positively on the College community and on the development of quality relationships
Heads of House are well placed to interpret the College vision and mission statement and it is expected that Heads of House are role models and examples to all members of the College in their behaviour, demeanor, attitude and practices. They are pivotal in the communication between the College Secondary Leadership Team, staff, students and parents.
To nurture quality relationships in the House system, Heads of House must have a knowledge and understanding of the school and the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- The duties and responsibilities of Head of House include:_
- Wellbeing of students in the House.
- Daily organisation and administration of the House.
- Responsibility for quality parent/College partnerships.
- Working co-operatively with all members of the Pastoral Team.
- Involvement in personal professional development and in the provision of on-going professional development for House staff.
- Planning and organisation of House activities, functions and service learning.
- Management of the House budget.
- Promotion and integration of the College’s Hearts and Mind Wellbeing Framework through the House system.
- Promotion and integration of the College’s Teaching and Learning Approach through the House system.

- Being the first point of contact for parents and the management of all pastoral matters relating to students in the House.
- Knowing each student in his/her House well enough to guide and support the student's holistic development, according to the College vision.
- Communicating regularly with all parents about their daughter’s progress and achievement.
- Supporting and enforcing College expectations in regard to presentation and the Positive Behaviours Policy.
- Maintaining accurate record keeping of student information in regard to involvement in House life and pastoral issues.
- Monitoring student attendance at the College.
- Organising and monitoring the transition of Year 7 and all new students in the House.
- Overseeing the pastoral reporting process and ensuring high quality documentation is produced.
- Leadership of, and participation in, the College Camp Program.
