**The Role**
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to support the implementation and delivery of continuous naval shipbuilding in Australia? Naval Construction Branch (NCB) are seeking a dynamic and skilled individual for the role APS6 Certification Officer and become a valuable addition to the team. The Certification Officer will be required to work in a complex operating environment in Henderson, WA. This is a supporting role reporting to the Acceptance Manager producing Vessel Build Assurance and Certification documentation throughout the Vessel shipbuilding process. This may include production of Assurance and Acceptance documentation, management of non-conformance & non-compliances, and management of other Engineering data or information, leading to a formal acceptance of the shipbuilding product.

Key responsibilities of the Certification Officer are:

- Compile Vessel Non-conformance and Non-compliance documentation; and
- Consolidate Ship Designer, Ship Builder and other NCB technical data and reports into, and from, relevant Assurance, Certification and Acceptance data sources and databases, to provide Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) in Vessel or Ship acceptance.
- Provision of quality assurance support to verify and validate vessels and projects are built and delivered to agreed commercial and international standards.
- Support development and implementation of a system to control and report waivers or deviations of original scope build quality to relevant stakeholders.
- Compilation of Vessel build Statements of Assurance, Certificates and Delivery Documentation for presentation at Ship Certification and Delivery progress meetings, and Vessel Delivery Boards.

Additional tasks may include:

- Coordination of activities with Navy Test and Evaluation Authority, Project Office and other organisations involved in the test and evaluation program.
- Engagement with a variety of project specific Defence stakeholders (both ADF and APS) providing support in project delivery against certification requirements (i.e Aviation Facilities Certificate, Explosive Ordinance Storage, RAN Seaworthiness etc).
- Conduct data and records management activities as Local Site Administrator using a managed information system, (i.e. Objective).
- Other tasks under management discretion based on business needs.

**About our Team**
Naval Construction Branch (NCB) is accountable for the assurance of ship construction, set-to work and transit of vessels constructed at the Osborne Naval Shipyard and Henderson precinct. We are headquartered in Osborne, SA and have a detachment in Henderson, WA and a smaller presence in Port Macquarie, NSW. NCB is furthering continuous naval shipbuilding and growing sovereign capability by overseeing the construction to ensure quality and standards are met, storing lessons learnt and developing standard shipbuilding procedures for construction.

NCB will oversee the construction of many different Navy vessels including Offshore Patrol Vessels, Hunter Class Frigates, Young Endeavour, Mine Hunter Vessels, Evolved Cape Class and Pacific Patrol Boats. Working at NCB will enable you to be at the grassroots of continuous naval shipbuilding, where you are part of a working shipyard, being able to see and contribute to the vessels delivered and used in Service by Navy. NCB currently has highly skilled and diverse shipbuilding experience, which will be shared to grow your hands-on construction knowledge. You will work alongside Navy personnel, internal project management officers and Prime contractors. The opportunity for technical staff to undertake industry placement is also available.
- Previous experience in design, construction or maintenance of complex Engineering Systems (preferably in marine) within a quality framework, or acting in engineering/construction quality or production roles.
- Relevant experience in a quality assurance domain.
- Previous experience in reporting to management and customers.
- Ability to attend vessels to conduct inspections, audits, PCA’s, when required. This may require interstate travel.
- Applicants must have or be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting 1”.
