**Your new company**

Our client is amongst the world’s top producers of major commodities including iron ore, metallurgical coal, copper and uranium. They extract and process minerals, oil and gas from its production operations located primarily in Australia and the Americas.

**Your new role**

This role will have you leading a technical team of experts during the studies phase of a large and pivotal rail project.

Day to day responsibilities will include:

- Lead and coach your team to achieve project objectives to a strict timeline
- Prepare for and lead in Opportunity Framing, alternative trade off and selection activities, including incorporating non-financial metrics such as social, environmental and Traditional Owner values.
- Develop and manage study schedules, budgets, and reporting, ensuring issues are identified early and managed proactively, including managing engineering consultants and contractors
- Coordinate risk management and value optimisation activities within the development of the project
- Identifying critical gaps in knowledge and understanding, and develop plans to close these gaps and resolve uncertainty

**What you'll need to succeed**

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

- Experience in leading a team during project development or studies phase of a construction project in the heavy industry
- Previous experience in making recommendations based on varying and ambiguous information.
- Experience in dealing with a project steering committee consisting of senior stakeholders, and lead this group through structured and evidence based decision-making
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise reports
- Either based in South Australia or willing to travel interstate to South Australia for work.

You will receive a daily rate of circa $1200 + Super a day (negotiable based on experience) and will have the option to be engaged through your Pty Ltd company if preferred.
