**Where you'll be working**

**This is an exciting opportunity to join **Tweed Valley Hospital**,** your primary work location and a new, major referral hospital at the heart of the network of hospitals and health facilities across the Tweed-Byron region, also including **Murwillumbah District** & **Byron Central** Hospitals. Tweed Valley Hospital opened on 14 May 2024.**

**The new state of the art facility includes**:

- **more operating theatres and recovery spaces**:

- **expanded emergency department**:

- **enhanced medical, surgical, and mental health services**:

- **enhanced ambulatory care services including more outpatient clinics**:

- **new interventional cardiology service**:

- **new radiotherapy service as part of a new integrated cancer care service.**

**What you'll be doing**

Provide contemporary comprehensive specialist General Paediatric services for optimal patient outcomes at the Network Hospitals including, Inpatient Services, Outpatient Clinics, Hospital in the Home and Consultancy where applicable for optimal patient outcomes delivering a healthy community through quality care.

Provide clinical leadership, participate in quality improvement activities and provide training and education to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice.

**Selection Criteria**
- Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a General Surgeon, and/or specialist international medical graduate pathways
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience as a Senior Medical Officer in the surgical discipline, at a site with at least a similar role delineation to the NNSWLHD service
- Demonstrated recent leadership and management experience with the ability to work with and develop a multidisciplinary clinical team
- Demonstrated ability to manage staff, funding and equipment within the delegation of this position
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology, written, verbal and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement
- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time
