Fitter (General)

In a nutshell, we need a experienced fitter who loves working with their hands; and has a knack for fabrication, assembly, and fault-finding of equipment.

Gayrad is an Australian owned and operated, Queensland business who has designed and manufactured transformers & power electronic equipment for over 50 years. Our high-quality electrical equipment services the mining industry, railways, power/supply authorities and switchboard manufacturers.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Review technical drawings and specifications to choose appropriate materials, methods, and machine settings.
- Assemble metal components to create machines and equipment.
- Inspect finished parts for precision, ensuring they fit together properly using measuring tools.
- Adjust machine settings, including cutting and shaping tools, dies, and têxtile machinery.
- Shape metal parts to exact measurements using various machinery such as grinders, drills, and presses.
- Install and manipulate hydraulic and pneumatic piping systems.
- Set up mechanisms to control the operation of têxtile machinery for fabric production.
- Troubleshoot issues, perform maintenance, and repair machinery and parts.
- Assemble machines and equipment on-site if required.

**Qualifications & Skills**:

- AQF Certificate III, including a minimum of one year of work experience
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to interpret technical blueprints.
- Competence in using machining tools and measurement instruments.
- Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems is an asset.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities to diagnose and address equipment issues.
- Attention to detail and commitment to following safety protocols.

Pay: From $73,150.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift

Supplementary Pay:

- Overtime pay
- Performance bonus

**Experience**:

- Fitter: 2 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Forklift Licence (preferred)
- Manual Driver Licence (preferred)

Work Authorisation:

- Australia (preferred)

Work Location: In person
