**About the team**
Elliott Gray is partnering with the Department of Climate Change, Water, and the Environment to run a campaign and fill several vacancies within the Departments Electricity Division.
The Electricity Division sits within the new Government Department and is responsible for managing the unprecedented change that will arrive with the transition to net zero by 2050. The Division will provide advice and analysis to the Australian Government to facilitate the security, affordability, and reliability of electricity in Australia as the system transitions to a more economic friendly model. In doing so, the division poses a unique opportunity to shape the National Electricity Market in, what is currently, a critical time.
**Available Roles**
The Electricity Division has multiple positions in several different teams, each responsible for significant scopes of work:
- Advising on major reform to retail and wholesale electricity market design to reflect the changing energy mix and enable better consumer outcomes.
- Researching and providing innovative ideas for the support of major infrastructure projects.
- Improving the planning, building and regulation of electricity transmission networks
- Managing and supporting programs to support the development of new energy systems
- Developing policy and advising on renewable energy, storage and distribution issues that support electricity transition
- Supporting the development of policy to integrate rooftop solar, battery storage, and electric vehicles into the future electricity system.
To fulfil the above requirements, we are looking for applicants from a range of varied backgrounds. We are open to applicants Australia wide and will accommodate work form home arrangements for the right individuals. Applicants coming from backgrounds in Policy, Data analysis and/or modelling, Economics or Project/Program management, will be looked upon favourable. However, we are open to receiving applicants from all backgrounds, if you bring with you a desire to grow and an interest in the work being carried out by The Electricity Division, then you already possess the most important piece required to join this team.
**Who are we looking for?**
We are looking to fill multiple positions at the levels of; APS 5, APS 6 and EL1. You must hold an Australian Citizenship and be eligible to obtain a baseline security clearance if not already held. If you posses any combination of the below skills, you may be suitable to join the team:
- Energy and/or electricity systems, including in relation to renewable energy
- Complex markets
- Data analysis and modelling (or experience managing modelling exercises)
- Legislation or regulation
- Policy
- Programs
- Economics
- Project and program management, including management of construction megaprojects
- Communications and stakeholder engagement
**Some things you may be doing**
You will be working collaboratively, alongside several team members to lead and/or undertake several tasks in order to deliver the relevant work program. Some of your tasks may include:
- Developing and providing advice based on research and analysis (including data, legislative/regulatory, and financial)
- Drafting ministerial and senior executive briefings.
- Drafting policy papers, cabinet submissions.
- Designing, managing, and delivering projects and programs, by monitoring risks and managing government processes.
- Liaising with stakeholders, including with market participants, energy market bodies, state and territory governments and other Commonwealth Departments and agencies.
- Performing data analysis and/or modelling
